There are three types of backings that are best for police uniforms are Polyester, Nylon, and Spandex. Because most police uniforms are made of nylon material and nylon is more delicate than cotton.
Iron-on backing is not suitable for these materials, as the heat could cause damage to the attire.
While polyester, nylon, and spandex are sew-on backing, adhesive backing, or Velcro backing. These three patches’ backings will adhere perfectly to the police uniform.
Police patches special options:
We offer a large number of special options for your police patches. One of the most frequent special options for custom police patches is the merrowed border.
• Merrowed border is a good idea for police patches that are shaped into a rectangle, circle, square, or triangle.
• Merrowed border is 1/8" that overlocks the patch edge to prevent unnecessary wear edges. In this case, the merrowed border will make your patch durable.
However, we do not recommend this option for police patches with 100% embroidery coverage. And merrowed border looks better on patches with 75% embroidery coverage and 50% embroidery coverage.
