The imperial guard is a British army unit that guards the British royal family. It consists of two cavalry regiments of the royal guards, five infantry regiments of the infantry guards, and the royal horse artillery regiment. The day-to-day duties of the imperial guard include guarding the palace, serving as the queen's guard, performing state duties and performing certain public duties.
